Notes on artists submissions

Submitting work is easy, if you have a web site you want us to look at then email the gallery and we will contact you if the work is appropriate -

mail the gallery

or post photographs, slides, cd's, VHS and DVD's to: (SAE if you want them returned)

the salt gallery, 57 Fore Street, Hayle, Cornwall,TR27 4DX tel/fax 01736 753356

the front room is a video and installation space, for non commercial work. Selection is made entirely on the strength of your piece but we do prefer new work. It would be helpful if you could outline a proposal and include any past work, images and CV's. We usually ask the installation artist to give a talk or interview which will be recorded for education purposes. We do offer funding, as part of ACE project funding but If selected, you may need to apply for further funding. (more info contact the Arts Council grants phone line 0845 300 6100)

technical notes

We prefere not project film in our space because the light is so intense that it cannot be seen except by blacking out the room. The room can be seen until midnight by evening passersby and we like this extended viewing by a different public that may not come into the gallery normally. We have televisions and two LG 17" LCD screens which can be positioned on the walls in the installation room or in the hallspace, these can be run by VHS or DVD players. We have speakers/ portable cd players for sound work.

Proposals

To make a proposal we give the following guide lines. Include a CV, images of past projects, postcards etc. including any publications or reviews. (copies) Short statement about the content/concept of the work you want to propose. SAE for returns. We look at and consider everything.
