To Samantha, art is a world full of marvels and humour: offering us a glimpse of an alternative order to our daily lives.
“I think of the images I make in terms of feelings and senses rather than subject. I am attempting to evoke these senses by rearranging the forms, structures and materials of everyday life into something more exciting.
The work is not planned or forced and the materials do not control the work. I react with the materials I choose, and am very conscious of the way I am manipulating them.
I enjoy the mistakes I make while working as they can take you down roads you may never have ventured and this I believe keeps the work fresh and changing.
For me, each piece is like a character in a family, all connected and reacting to one another, yet all individual.
